For a rental, a flip, or a tight budget, vinyl is the obvious pick — strong value, zero painting, quick install. For a long-term home in an Oakland County neighborhood where curb appeal supports resale, fiber cement’s look and toughness often justify the premium. And if your siding is mostly fine with one damaged area, a competent repair beats a full replacement you do not yet need. A good contractor will tell you honestly which bucket your home falls in.
