Can every hardwood floor be refinished?

Most can, as long as there is enough wood above the tongue to sand — usually good for several refinishes over a floor’s life. Very thin or previously over-sanded floors, or thin-veneer engineered products, may not have enough material left. A pro confirms with a quick inspection.

How messy is refinishing?
